Article: GeoTechVision Participates in 7th URISA Caribbean GIS Conference (2014)

Willemstad, Curacao: The week of October 26-30, 2014 was a truly fulfilling week of activity for GeoTechVision’s Managing Director, Valrie Grant and her team at the URISA Conference in Curacao. Ms. Grant fulfilled her roles as Conference Chair, President of the URISA Caribbean Chapter, Speaker and Workshop Instructor; while, as Managing Director of GeoTechVision guided her team as they showcased the company’s innovative solutions.

GeoTechVision was a bronze sponsor and exhibitor at the conference and aside from its Geospatial Technology solutions, the company also featured its Classroom Management Solution SmartClassTM and its own GeO™ brand tablet. GeoTechVision Academy was also announced at the conference. GeoTechVision Academy will be based at GeoTechVision’s new location in Georgetown, Guyana. Attendees of the Academy will spend a week with skilled GIS practitioners and learn how to get the most out of their GIS software and data.

Kingston, Jamaica, October 28, 2014: Spatial Innovision Limited the exclusive distributor for Esri products in the Caribbean, is pleased to announce the agreement it reached with GeoTechVision in Guyana to become an authorized reseller for Esri products in the following countries: Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, St. Lucia and St. Vincent & the Grenadines. This move is expected to widen our customer base within the region.

The partnership was announced during the opening address of the 7th URISA Caribbean Conference recently held in Curacao.

Ms. Valrie Grant, Managing Director of GeoTechVision and URISA Caribbean Chapter president speaks at the UN Third High Level Forum on Global Geospatial Information Management at the National Administration of Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformation (NASG), Headquarters in Beijing, China, from 22-24 October 2014.

Ms. Grant was a member of a panel of experts looking at working together across regions and borders. In her presentation she outlined some of the challenges facing the Caribbean region and outlined possible approaches to overcoming these challenges in moving towards Regional Spatial Data Infrastructure (RSDI) and Sustainable Spatial Enabled Societies.
